miranda is incredibly sensitive to anything that could be perceived as a failure on her part.   she judges herself only by her mistakes,   giving all the credit to her successes to her genetics,   her father,   the illusive man,   even shepard.    “we’ve both been engineered for greatness,  shepard.  the difference is,  you were great before we rebuilt you.  i’m great because of it.”    she doesn’t take credit for her own skill as something she has a right to,  merely something that is,   something to be used — and subsequently,   she is a tool to be used.   it wouldn’t insult her to throw her “perfection” back in her face – she accepts what she is and she doesn’t hide from it,   she isn’t afraid to use it.   she falters only when it becomes clear how she doesn’t measure up in one way or another,   when she fails to do something.   failure only motivates her to overcome whatever that may be,   but failure is also completely internalized,   and something she holds very close to herself.

woke: most of the people on the normandy aren’t sure of how to talk to her, or even get near her, because she makes it difficult for others to get to know her. however, when approached, she’s perfectly pleasant, and everyone knows she’s very reliable and actually cares about the mission 

ME3 SQUADMATE VERSE.     ^{i’m mostly adjusting the timeline for miranda a bit,   and redoing part of her arc in ME3   (since bioware fuckin nerfed her…)   miranda was one of the last crew mates to leave the normandy before it was turned over to the alliance.    but,    once she left,    she quickly became a target for the illusive man and cerberus as a whole.    in the six months between ME2 and ME3,   miranda’s kept moving from station to station,   planet to planet,    using her cerberus intel and favors she’s been owed by others to remain mostly out of sight.    her contact with her sister has been limited,   given her constant moving around and the possibility that she could accidentally lead cerberus,   or her father,    to oriana.    regardless,   she’s kept updates on her sister,    as well as most of the old normandy crew.}  

^{there have been a few run - ins with the illusive man’s men,   but nothing she couldn’t handle.    after the reapers hit earth,   the first thing miranda does is check on oriana.   for this verse,   oriana has not yet disappeared,   and miranda and her are still in contact.   miranda puts in more measures to ensure oriana’s safety.    using her contacts,   and the small access she still has to cerberus databases,    she sees the uptick in cerberus activity and begins feeding the alliance intel on the organization.    after the   PRIORITY:  PALAVEN   mission,    miranda meets up with shepard on the citadel,    similar to the game.    given that,   at the moment,   oriana is still safe,   miranda decides to join up with shepard and use shepard’s access to resources,   as well as her own information on cerberus,   to try and uncover more about the illusive man’s intentions and plans.    at some point,   oriana is taken by their father,   and miranda loses contact with her.    on edge,   miranda still asks for access to alliance resources,    not willing to tell shepard why just yet.    using those,    she still discovers her father’s facility on horizon.       right before PRIORITY:  THESSIA,    miranda disappears to track her sister and her father down,    knowing shepard is dealing with the reapers elsewhere,   and taking it upon herself to put her father down and rescue her sister.    the horizon mission plays out as usual.    after surviving horizon,    she returns to the normandy.}
