okay but: this is the outsider's perception of mirandamiranda perceived as cold and untouchable and distant as a method of self protection but also playing into the rolethat has been decided for her (she will eventually decide for herself -- but w/ the illusive man. even w/ her father its chosen for her)not quite sure yet who she is beyond the constraints shes put on herself bc of her perception of her abilities and how she never reallyearned them -- can only use them to her benefit and subsequently the benefit of othersand because of her nature as someone Unflinching. as someone who doesnt shy away from the reality of her capabilitiesand the reality that she is indeed /terrifyingly dangerous/ and incredibly capable in whatever she chooses to doand her refusal to buy into unattainable ideals and her capacity for getting the job doneis initially perceived as coldness. distance. unattainability.but its a false perception? miranda herself is blunt and never softens herself down but shes not /cruel/shes not unnecessarily rude or sharp with people. she doesnt find any sort of pleasure in putting ppl downshe's simply ...... a woman secure in herself and who she is and what shes capable of. and open about her perceptions of others toowhich results in someone thinking shes Heartless -- bc a woman cant be this way without being viciously coldbut ... miranda isnt. shes warm with her sister. she cares /so much/ and she is so dedicated and full of passionshe's polite w/ shepard. she goes on to expose the Raw Nerves of her insecurities to shepard and shes genuinelygrateful and kind to shepard after her loyalty missionjust because she doesnt Take Shit doesnt mean she also doesnt have such a huge capacity for love and warmthidk i just think its so interesting to think abt how miranda is perceived on the surface by most ppl unwilling to actually figure her outvs how she actually is -- without facade or masks. it isnt even an Unlock Her Lvl 10 Backstory politenessshes downright /friendly/ with shepard after getting aboard the normandyand i'm not saying she cant be Cold or Distant and that she doesnt in some ways play that up to either keep ppl in line or to protect hersel*herselfim just saying........ theres so much more to it and her than that
